Explore the Five Principles of Mindful Photography in this week-long online mindful photography course.

16th - 23rd November 2026

Sessions 7pm UK Time

£185 per person

Delivered via Zoom

What happens when you slow down and really look?

This six-session online course is an invitation to pause, become more present, and discover how much there is to see in the world around you. Through a series of simple daily observation exercises, we’ll explore five principles of mindful photography:

Light · Movement · Relationships · Textures · Feeling

You don’t need to be an experienced photographer. In fact, you don’t even need to make photographs during the daily exercises.

The aim is simply to notice.

By slowing down and paying attention to what is already around you, you may begin to see familiar places, ordinary moments and everyday details in a completely different way. And when you bring that way of seeing back to your photography, your images can begin to change too.

How the Course Works

We meet together on Zoom for one hour each evening at 7:00pm UK time.

Each session combines teaching, conversation and a simple observation practice for you to explore over the following 24 hours.

Monday 16 November - Light

We’ll meet each other and begin our journey together. I’ll introduce you to the first principle: Light. You’ll then spend the next 24 hours simply observing light - noticing how it changes, where it falls, what it reveals and perhaps what you normally overlook.

Tuesday 17 November - Movement

We’ll begin by sharing what we noticed about light. Then we’ll explore Movement and set you an observation practice to take into the following 24 hours. Rather than thinking about movement as something that simply happens around us, we’ll begin to notice its qualities, rhythms and relationships with the world.

Wednesday 18 November - Relationships

After sharing our experiences of observing movement, we’ll turn our attention to Relationships. This might be the relationship between objects, people, spaces, light and shadow, or the unexpected connections you begin to notice when you pause and really look.

Thursday 19 November - Textures

We’ll reflect on 24 hours of observing relationships before moving into Textures. Texture is everywhere, from the obvious to the almost invisible. This exercise invites you to become curious about surfaces, patterns, materials and the tactile qualities of the world around you.

Friday 20 November - Feeling

We’ll share what we discovered through observing textures before exploring our final principle: Feeling. How does something make you feel when you stop and give it your full attention? This final observation exercise brings together the idea that mindful photography isn't only about what we see, but also about what we experience.

Weekend Photography

You’ll then have the weekend to explore the five principles through your own photography. Using Light, Movement, Relationships, Textures and Feeling as your starting points, you’ll create a small selection of images inspired by your observations. There are no right or wrong images. This is an opportunity to play, explore and see where your attention takes you.

Monday 23 November - Sharing Our Images

We’ll come back together for our final session and share the images we created over the weekend. We’ll look at the photographs through the lens of the five principles and reflect on what we noticed - both through our photography and in our everyday lives.

Words from Previous Course Participants

"When I joined this course, I did so because I had almost lost interest or reason to shoot.  Wow, I am so glad that I joined you all. Kim has both inspired and guided me (via the course) back to my most rewarding hobby."
